Las Vegas Gets More Bulls & Cowboys!

You know how much we love The Professional Bull Riders (PBR). So you can imagine how excited we were to hear that the PBR is taking over part of the annual Las Vegas Helldorado Days celebration. Not only that, the PBR also agreed to put on a Helldorado rodeo that will be sanctioned by the Professional Rodeo Cowboys Association (PRCA) – The very organization 20 bull riders split from 23 years ago to form the PBR!

The PBR (Professional Bull Riders) has partnered with Las Vegas Centennial and the Las Vegas Elks to revive Las Vegas Helldorado Days, bringing the luster and excitement back to the event to celebrate the city of Las Vegas’ 111th birthday.

Now that’s good news for the fans of cowboys, bulls and rodeos.  It’s bad news for those who like one of the last Vegas’ traditions.  Helldorado and all its events has alway been held in downtown Las Vegas.  This year the rodeo and the bull riding will be moved outside the city limits and to the MGM Las Vegas Village, where the PBR held their Last Cowboy Standing competition & Spring Break event last year. That’s right across from the Luxor and Mandalay Bay.  All the other usual Helldorado Days events including the parade and whiskering contest will still be downtown Las Vegas

Helldorado Days has been a Las Vegas staple since 1934 when Clyde Zerby created the event to provide entertainment to the workers and visitors of the Hoover Dam. This festival has touched the lives of many Las Vegas residents, young and old, while also attracting visitors from around the United States who have enjoyed this iconic experience.

The Helldorado Rodeo is May 13 & 14.  PBR Last Cowboy Standing is May 14 & 15.

Las Vegas and The PBR have History

Founded in 1992, the PBR has spent the last 23 consecutive years with Las Vegas as the only host of the Built Ford Tough World Finals (BFTS), most of this organization’s history has taken place throughout the City of Lights. PBR now plans to add another milestone by upgrading and improving such an iconic event like Helldorado Days.

Last Cowboy Standing, included in Helldorado Days, is the last stop of the first half of the 2016 BFTS schedule and will feature the top 35 PBR stars competing in a single elimination format event. To advance to the next round, they must make the 8-second buzzer. The cowboys will ride in round after round of competition until only one rider remains as “the Last Cowboy Standing.”

The 2016 Built Ford Tough Series season will conclude at the PBR Built Ford Tough World Finals in Las Vegas on Nov. 2-6 when the 2016 PBR World Champion, the bull rider who earns the most points during the 2016 season, will be crowned and receive the coveted World Championship belt buckle and a $1 million bonus.

This year, the five-day PBR World Finals event will move from the Thomas & Mack Center to the new T-Mobile Arena.  The PBR is also having a minor-league developmental bull riding event for three days before the world finals. Meaning a full 8 days of bulls and cowboys in Las Vegas.
