MGM Resorts Ups its Resort Fees

MGM Screwing its customers again

I have never seen a successful customer service based business try harder to screw over its customers more than MGM Resorts International.  Never!!  They just can not come up with enough ideas to implement that piss off anyone who wants to stay with them.

The upper management must have a large division called “Office of SCREW THE CUSTOMER” with weekly prizes for the one who creates the best idea to turn away loyal customers and prevent new ones from entering.

I would say the same thing about Caesars International.  But they are not smart enough to create new ideas to screw the customer.  In fact, Harrah’s recently lowered their credit/debit card hold at check-in.  Saving you some cash.  About the only thing Caesars seems capable of doing is finding new ways to go deeper in debt and offend the Gaming Board who thinks they can do no wrong.

MGM creates new parking fees.  They subcontract the valet staff than charge for valet.  MGM can’t understand why you are gambling less each time they tighten down the odds of winning anything from any game.  The bartenders measure out each and every drink to the drop.  Management cut back on floor staff.  Now they are increasing the cost of resort fees yet give us nothing in return for the new fees!

For those that do not know, Las Vegas resorts created a new cash cow called “Resort Fees“.  These are added daily charges to your room rate that help pay for the commission they pay to travel sites and agents.  That’s not how they like to explain it, but in reality, that’s the primary purpose of them.  Also, since they are added to the room rate at check-in, they sometimes don’t appear on the search results of the website you may be searching on. Making you think you got a cheap room deal.

So just what does the new fees cover?
According to their mailer:
The daily resort fee includes the following services:

  • Internet Access
  • Fitness Center Access
  • Local & 800 Phone Calls
  • Additional Inclusions

For $35, the average MGM guest gets nothing but a higher bill at checkout and access to crappy wireless internet.

Or am I missing something here??
