The weather has to be the number one question we get at The Vegas Tourist. No matter the time of the year, Las Vegas is a great place to visit because it normally is better than where you came from.  Warm in the winter, mild in the spring and fall, and Hot in the summer. However, each month weather conditions do change often. Here is a little information on “typical” Las Vegas weather by the month.  This should help you plan a little better on what to pack and what to wear while here.

Las Vegas Weather by The Month

 

Las Vegas in January

January weather in Las Vegas is nice.

Average daily temperatures range from 57°F (14°C) to 34°F (1°C). Mountains surrounding the Las Vegas Valley tend to get some snow during winter. However, in the city,  rain is far more likely to fall than snow (0.50 inches on an average in January).  IF by some chance, we do get snow, most of it melts before reaching the ground. With relatively warm and pleasant day weather, Las Vegas nights in January may get fairly cold.

With summer extreme heat, many tourists find it more preferable to come to Vegas in winter. Even though day clubs and pool parties are not available during Vegas winter months, some pools stay open all year round. Just because its wintertime, Las Vegas still knows how to party and entertain!

If you are visiting Vegas in January, make sure to pack enough layers to stay comfortable. You will only need a light jacket for outside time (if any jacket at all), but layers are a necessity for a comfortable Vegas winter trip.

Las Vegas in February

Even though Las Vegas winters are mild, it tends to get windy and chilly. However, that should not stop you from visiting. Las Vegas has plenty of indoor entertainment! On average, February has only about 0.45 inches of rainfall.

Average temperature range for February in Las Vegas high of 62°F (17°C), the lowest temperature may drop to 39°F (4°C).  The temperature rises towards the end of the month marking the beginning of spring.

If you are coming to Vegas in February, pack a light jacket, a pair of boots, warm layers, and maybe an umbrella.

For the Vegas Tourist, winter is the best time to visit national parks around Las Vegas. Desert temperatures are naturally hotter here than anywhere else, and National parks are not as crowded in the winter as they are during the summer months.  That also goes for hiking and exploration.  The wintertimes offer perfect weather. You won’t become overheated and may spend far more time outside than during other seasons.

Las Vegas in March

March means the beginning of spring in Las Vegas. Checking the forecast prior to heading to Las Vegas is a smart idea especially this time of the year.  Spring in Las Vegas may start as early as in February and last until April. Clear skies and sunny days make this month a great time to visit Vegas. Even though the weather gets really pleasant, expect some cold changes at any time.

Average high temperatures March reach 70°F (21°C) while low temperatures stick at 44°F (7°C). Wonderful March weather means a great time for city exploration, walks, tours, and other outdoor activities. Our natural low humidity levels and average precipitation of only 0.40 inches make this a great time to visit.

Las Vegas Weather in April

April in Vegas means spring is moving out and summer is moving in! April is a great month to visit Sin City, April had the greatest and most pleasant weather throughout the whole year.

Average temperatures in Las Vegas in April rise up to 79°F (26°C), while the lowest temperature is around 52°F (11°C). The average rainfall in April in Vegas is just 0.20 inches.

It’s the month when dayclubs open their doors with crowds heading out to our famous Vegas pool parties. April is the perfect time for any outdoor activities in Vegas. Whether you enjoy walking, hanging by the pool, playing golf, hiking, or nature exploration, April is the best month.

Las Vegas Weather in May

For a vegas Tourist, May is considered to be one of the best months to visit Vegas, May is warm and very pleasant. During the day, the average highest temperature in Las Vegas is 88°F (31°C) while the lowest is around 60°F (16°C). Low humidity levels (18%), and heat are common for May weather. Rain in May? Not often enough to even care.

This is a great month for pool lovers, so don’t forget to bring your swimsuit! Other necessary things to pack are sunglasses, hat/cap, and of course light clothes. Don’t forget your moisturizing cosmetics and sunscreen!

Las Vegas in June

Las Vegas in June?  Plenty of sunshine, long days, and shorter nights. Las Vegas is in the Mojave Desert and remains dry all year round.  During summer months the weather here gets really hot.

The average maximum temperature in Vegas in the month of June reaches 100°F (38°C) and drops down to 70°F (21°C) at night. Cooler mornings and evenings after sunset are best for outdoor walks and outdoor entertainment. Low humidity levels stay at 21%.

If you are coming to Las Vegas in June, beware! Avoid spending too much time outdoors during afternoon peak hours. You will understand why we love our air conditioning in the hotel! Make sure to pack for your trip lightweight garments, bathing suit, sunscreen, hat, and sunglasses.

Las Vegas Weather in July

FYI: July and August are the hottest months in Las Vegas with high temperatures staying around 106°F (41°C) and low temperatures at 73°F (23°C), humidity level keeping at 20 percent. Just be aware that there might be a couple of crazy days when the temperature reaches 115°F (46°C), however, this is untypical for the entire month. With dry heat, the high temperatures are tolerable most of the time especially if you avoid being outdoors at peak afternoon time.

July heat tends to keeps some visitors away.  This is the time when you can get some really great deals on your stay and flight. If you are planning your trip to Las Vegas for the month of July, get ready to spend most of your time indoors in the comfort of air-conditioned hotels.  It’s Vegas, the indoor entertainment never stops in Vegas.

Pack your swimsuit, sunglasses, and hat if you are going to cool off dipping in the pool – there is lots of activity by Vegas pools with nonstop music and cocktail service. Use late evening time for your outdoor walks. Drink plenty of water to keep yourself hydrated all the time.

Las Vegas Weather in August

August, as with July is one of the hottest months of the year in Las Vegas with an average high temperature of 102°F (39°C) and an average low of 73°F (23°C). Raised humidity of 26% and occasional showers (typical 0.49 inches of rain) make heat hard to bear.

However, instead of avoiding visiting Vegas in August, take advantage of lower travel rates and plan to spend most of the time in the comfort of the casino, by the pool (Vegas pool parties are in full swing in August!), at an indoor attraction or show.  Better evening temperatures slightly compensate for day heat. Stay out late exploring Vegas nightlife and sleep in next day (mornings in August get hot very fast).

If you are coming to Las Vegas in August, your packing list must include light clothes, sunscreen, moisturizers, and hat. Bring a refillable water bottle with you and stay hydrated at all times.

 

Las Vegas in September

Las Vegas in September still means high temperatures of 95°F (35°C), closer to the middle of the month weather gradually starts to cool down marking the beginning of the fall. Towards the end of the month, the average high temperature lowers to 80 F (26°C).

September is a great month to visit Vegas as the families and those in educational pursuits are heading back home.  The days are still long enough and even with hot day temperature, evenings are milder with an average 66°F (19°C). Finally, pool parties are still in full swing and lots of adult-only dayclubs are crowded in September.

Little to no rainfall in September with about 0.30 inches on average leaves low chances for showers. If you are visiting Vegas at the beginning of September, plan for indoor activities and very little outdoor time, however, if you are coming towards the end of the month, expect to catch great weather and plan to visit outdoor attractions.

For September in Las Vegas, your summer clothes work great. Pack a layer or two for cooler evenings at the end of the month (think fall-like clothes). Don’t forget your bathing suit, a hat and sunglasses.

Las Vegas in October

October in Las Vegas! The summer blast furnace has been turned off and the weather becoming tolerable.  During the day sunshine is typical in Las Vegas and the average high temperature in October stays at 83°F (28°C). However, with the fall season starting average low temperatures may get to 54°F (12°C). And that’s the reason why October is considered to be the end of pool season in Vegas. However, many Las Vegas pools are heated and remain open year-round,  so do bring your swimsuit. If you are visiting Sin City in October, bring a light sweater or a light jacket, as well as several layers of clothes for evening and night walks.

Las Vegas in November

November in Las Vegas?  This is a transition of fall into winter. An average high temperature of 66°F (19°C), and an average low of 43°F (6°C) makes it definitely one of the coldest months of the year.

Most of the month expect sunshine during the day. Las Vegas in November means mild temperature with plenty of indoor entertainment to keep visitors busy all year round in Vegas, but outdoor activities in the month of November are possible to do as well. Plan your tours and walks for midday when the temperature stays at its highest number. Occasional showers may be expected in November.

The month of November in Vegas is definitely not your shorts and t-shirt season. Bring comfy layers as well as a jacket. If you have plans on visiting nightclubs, there is a chance you might have to wait outside on a chilly night. Bring some dressy clothes that are suitable for colder weather. If you are going to visit one of the National parks around Vegas, make sure to take comfy shoes or boots as well as a sweater.

Las Vegas in December

December is one of the coldest months of the year in Vegas, December marks the peak of the winter season. At the beginning of the monthly average high temperatures is 59°F (15°C) while the average low stays at 41°F (5°C). However, by December 31st high temperatures fall to 55°F (13°C) and lows stay at 37°F (3°C).

During the month of December, Vegas enjoys about 7 hours of sun daily. A gentle breeze is typical for December and air stays relatively humid (humidity levels in December range between 23% (dry) and 65% (mildly humid)). There is a very low chance of snow or ice in December in Vegas.

With cooler temperatures, December is a great time for visitors planning to gamble in the casinos and spending time at the shows. Most pools are closed for maintenance at this time of the year.
