Grand Canyon North Rim Still Closed: Mangum Fire is Still Burning

Grand Canyon North Rim

Unfortunately, Mother Nature has not been kind to the Grand Canyon North Rim this year. After finally getting clearance to open for the season from the State of Arizona, it was almost immediately closed due to a wildfire that has consumed acres of pristine forest surrounding the famed rim. Included in the North Rim fire zone is the historic Jacob Lake Inn.

Many people do not realize there is a North Rim to the National Park. Most tourists only know of the South Rim.  The North Rim is much more peaceful, higher in elevation, and only open for the summer months due to winter weather restrictions. Some visitors have even called the experience “intimate” because of its reclusive, peaceful surroundings.

Updates on when the rim will be opened or if it will be opened for tourists in 2020 are still pending.
