The Mob, Sandy Hackett and Mack the Knife

This is starting out to be one of those really, really weird weeks.  On Tuesday, we will attend the formal opening (and I mean black tie formal) of the new Mob Experience at the newly remodeled Tropicana Resort.

Today I was snooping through the entertainment news and came across a blurb about our friends Sandy Hackett and his beautiful wife Lisa Dawn Miller releasing a new video for their show “Sandy Hackett’s Rat Pack” with the gang singing the iconic song Jack the Knife.  (video above).

The video ties it all together in a strange way.  As we prepare to say good bye to the Sahara;  one of the three Grande Dames of the Vegas Strip. Built in the 1950’s and was one of Frank’s favorite places to play, as well as the place that Sandy’s father, Buddy Hackett, made a name for himself playing the lounge.

Sandy Hackett’s Rat Pack Show plays in and is featured in the video, the Riviera.  Again,One of the last remaining Grande Dames of the strip.  Where Liberace became a household name.  Where Dean liked to hang out as well as where there is a suite named for Frank Sinatra. This place is on life support.

And finally we have the Tropicana.  The best surviving of the three.  New owners who poured millions into her.  Giving the old place more than a paint job, but a whole new lease on life.  Now it is home to the Mob Experience. More on that after Tuesday Night.
