We Stayed at The South Point Resort

South Point Room Review and more!

Last year, for my wife’s birthday, we did what’s called a “Staycation”.  It’s like a vacation in that you stay in a local hotel and play tourist.  For us, we did a favorite casino we like: The South Point Resort. (Casino, Spa, Equestrian Arena!) It’s towards the south end of Las Vegas Boulevard.  Just say it’s “The South Point” and people know what you are talking about!

The South Point Rooms

We had King  Standard.  AT 500 Square feet of space, plenty of space to move around in and not feel cramped.  A 42″ plasma Television that was the perfect size for the room.  A nice comfy bed that didn’t sag in the middle.  They even had a coffee maker in the large bathroom.  The best part for me is the tall shower head!  I love it when they do that for us tall guys!

All of the rooms here are nice. I have stayed here a few times and never had a bad experience.  Being locally owned by the legendary Micheal Gaughn, he takes care of his staff and they take care of the guests.  Many of his staff have been with him for over twenty years!

When you are visiting a “locals” casino, they have a different set up then the more popular tourist hotels. The casino is large and well organized.  Yet very easy to get in and out. Even move around and past the gaming area.

Entertainment Galore

A “locals” casino resort caters to us, the local population.  Meaning they have more variety of games, food choices as well as entertainment options that aren’t meant to drain the checking account or max out the credit cards. They want us to come back and stay awhile!

The South Point has a wide variety of restaurants. From the first Steak and Shake restaurant in Nevada to the five stars Micheals Steak House.  The first all-digital multiplex movie theater in Las Vegas.  A sixty four-lane bowling alley, late night bingo (we won $250 on cover all), showroom and of course, the equestrian arena.
