When you come to Las Vegas, you don’t come here and do ordinary. You don’t do cautious and careful. No. When you come to Las Vegas, you do it up big, bold, and different.



Well, at least you used to. When Vegas was filled with entrepreneurs and people with creativity and a passion to build something people would want to visit. It’s not that way anymore.

So in that respect, maybe this is a list of the ten biggest resorts in Las Vegas as much as it is a tip of the hat to the age when Vegas was a wonderfully magical place to visit.

The Ten Largest Hotels in Las Vegas – in order

1 – The Venetian/Palazzo – At 7,100 suites, this is the largest hotel in Las Vegas and is also the second-largest hotel in the world (First World Hotel in Malaysia is the largest with 7,351 rooms). The Venetian opened in 1999, the Palazzo opened in 2007

2 – MGM Grand comes in second with 6,852. This is also the world’s largest hotel in one structure. It is one-quarter mile from the front door to the back door! The current MGM Grand opened in 1993

3 – Wynn/Encore – From the man who started the Mega-Resort boom, 4,748 rooms and suites. It also has a world-famous golf course. The Wynn opened in 2005. The Encore opened in 2008

4 – Mandalay Bay– When you look from the outside, it seems like it is larger than its 4,426 rooms. Mandalay Bay opened in 1999

5 – Luxor – What has to be the most unique resort on the Las Vegas Strip? Total of 4,407 rooms. The pyramid opened in 1993, and the tower was added in 1997

6 – Aria Resort– Technology met the Strip when this 4,004-room resort opened in 2009. Aria received LEED Gold certification for its environmentally friendly design and is the largest hotel in the world to achieve such a feat. It was also among the most technologically advanced hotels in the world at the time of its opening.

7 – Excalibur with its medieval theme and it had Merlin the Magician at the entrance has 3,981 rooms and suites. It was the largest hotel in the world when it opened before the MGM was built.

8 – Caesars Palace is actually one of the most recognized names in the world. It opened in 1966 and has 3,970 rooms and suites (and they are pager-friendly!)

9 – Bellagio. Just say the name and the spectacular fountain show out in front comes to mind. Opened in 1998 and has 3,933 rooms and suites.

10 – Circus Circus. Yes, it’s still here and still making its owner money. Room count of 3,773. The casino opened in 1968 and the hotel opened in 1972
